Gregory Chelap, Partner, discusses special purpose entities at the 2009 RRFA Convention

Posted on May 26, 2009

HARRISBURG, PA--Greg Chelap conducted a presentation on special purpose entities (SPE's) at the 2009 RRFA Convention and Exposition in Kansas City, Missouri.  The presentation included a discussion of different types of SPE's and the benefits to businesses of creating them.  SPE's allow businesses to wall off risks by creating liability firewalls.  They also facilitate tax reduction by shifting income and assets to lower taxed entities and individuals.  Businesses often use them to create incentive compensation plans for key employees of distinct lines of business.  Family business owners use SPE's as a effective tool to transfer their estate without necessarily giving up management and control.
