HARRISBURG, PA—SkarlatosZonarich attorney Elizabeth B. Place has been certified to practice before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

The VA requires certification to assure that lawyers representing veterans have demonstrated the requisite training and knowledge and an advanced understanding of issues related to veterans’ benefits. Gaining certification also reflects a lawyer’s commitment to meeting the needs of veterans and their families.

Place, who practices elder law, among other areas, said the VA certification is increasingly important in that field because of the aging population of Vietnam-era vets. “Many of these clients face a range of age-related issues, usually including VA issues,” she said. “Certification allows for more complete, across-the-board representation by a single attorney.”

Place also is experienced in civil litigation; employment, consumer protection, housing, and real estate law; nonprofit law; constitutional law; and nursing home and health care law. She is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Penn State Dickinson School of Law.
